Identity and court documents: bring government-issued photo ID, your court file number, all filed court documents in triplicate (one copy for you, one for the other party, one for the judge), any existing court orders, affidavits, and proof of service. Financial documents: Financial Statement (Form F8 or equivalent), last three years of income tax returns and Notices of Assessment, recent pay stubs, bank statements, property appraisals, and business financial statements if self-employed. Parenting and custody matters: proposed parenting plan, parenting schedule, school or medical records, and records of communications with the other parent if relevant. Practical essentials: pen and notepad, organized binder with tabbed documents, water bottle, phone charger, transit card or parking cash — arrive at least 30 minutes early. Dress and conduct: business casual attire, address the judge as Your Honour, stand when the judge enters and leaves the courtroom, silence all devices. Day-of tips: confirm your courtroom number on the cause list board near the courthouse entrance, make three sets of every document, know your file number, and arrange childcare.
